Canon PIXMA G6020 Cost Per Page: Near the Top, Not Quite the Floor

The Canon PIXMA G6020 is an ink tank all-in-one — print, copy, scan — with Wi-Fi and auto-duplex, selling for $324. It runs at $0.38 per 100 pages in black and $0.97 per 100 pages in color; the black rate traces to Canon's CN-GI20-BK bottle, $23 for a rated 6,000 pages.

The G6020 ranks 9th of 97 printers across every type InkTax tracks on black-and-white cost per page. Even the HP LaserJet Pro 4006dw, a print-only mono laser with a touchscreen and Ethernet, costs $2.23 per 100 pages in black against the G6020's $0.38, though it prints at 47 ppm to the G6020's 13 ppm. Buying into it costs $400 up front and drops copy and scan.

Its color cost per page ties for 1st among the 30 ink tank printers InkTax tracks, at $0.97 per 100 pages, a rate four others match, three of them Canon's own. Black cost per page trails a little: it ties for 6th of 30 in the same class, at $0.38 per 100 pages, a rate seven others match, three of them Canon's own.

Three Epson EcoTank models undercut the G6020 on black: the ET-2980, ET-3930 and ET-3950 all run $0.29 per 100 pages in black. They give it back in color, at $1.08 per 100 pages against the G6020's $0.97, and cost more up front, from $330 to $400.

Within Canon's own G-series, the PIXMA G3270 sells for $249, well under the G6020's $324, but it drops auto-duplex and has no Ethernet — both of which the G6020 includes.
