Canon PIXMA TS6520 Ink Cost Per Page: Cheap Printer, Costly Ink
The Canon PIXMA TS6520 is an inkjet all-in-one that prints, copies and scans, with Wi-Fi and auto-duplex built in, selling for $141. Running costs are steep for the class: $13.00 per 100 pages in black and $28.00 per 100 pages in color. The black figure comes from Canon's CN-PG295XL-BK cartridge, priced at $52 for a 400-page yield.
Canon's PIXMA line runs cheaper on both sides of this model's price. The PIXMA TS7720, at $162, adds a touchscreen and brings running costs down to $10.00 per 100 pages black and $25.00 color. The $108 PIXMA TR4720 costs even less to run, at $8.88 per 100 pages black and $23.21 color, and adds fax, though it prints at just 8.8 ppm against the TS6520's 14 ppm. The $60 PIXMA TS3722 ties that rate exactly, at $8.88 black and $23.21 color, but drops auto-duplex.
Among the 31 inkjet printers InkTax tracks, the Canon MAXIFY MB2720 holds the running-cost floor at $4.17 per 100 pages black and $13.16 color. It costs $216 up front, though, and adds fax, a touchscreen and Ethernet along with far faster output at 24 ppm versus the TS6520's 14 ppm.
Outside Canon, the Epson Expression Home XP-4205 undercuts the TS6520 on price at $60 and on black cost per page at $9.73 per 100 pages, but its color ink costs $29.64 per 100 pages against the TS6520's $28.00.
The Canon PIXMA G3270, a tank printer, runs on refillable bottles instead of cartridges, at $0.38 per 100 pages black and $0.97 color — far cheaper to run than the TS6520 — but costs $249 up front and lacks auto-duplex.
