That black figure traces to Canon's CN-PG275-BK cartridge, priced at $16 and rated for just 180 pages — a small cartridge that keeps the per-page cost high.
Two Canon siblings match those exact numbers: the $60 PIXMA TS3722 and the $141 PIXMA TS6420a both post $8.88 in black and $23.21 in color per 100 pages, a rate that ties all three for 16th of 31 inkjet printers on color cost per page. The TS3722 drops fax and duplexing for its lower price; the TS6420a restores duplex but still leaves out fax.
Canon's own MAXIFY MB2720 is the running-cost floor among inkjet printers, at $4.17 in black and $13.16 in color per 100 pages. It costs $216 up front, but adds a touchscreen and Ethernet alongside its Wi-Fi, and prints far faster than the TR4720 — 24 ppm against 8.8 ppm. For a shopper willing to switch types, Canon's own PIXMA G3270 tank printer costs $249 up front but is far cheaper to run, at $0.38 in black and $0.97 in color per 100 pages — though it forgoes fax and duplexing along the way.
