HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw Ink Cost Per Page And Cost To Run
The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw is a color laser all-in-one that prints, scans, copies and faxes, with a touchscreen and Wi-Fi, selling for $640. Toner runs $3.59 per 100 pages in black and $18.94 per 100 pages in color; the black figure comes from the HP-218X-BK cartridge, priced at $115 for a 3,200-page yield.
That black rate ties for 5th of 13 color laser printers InkTax tracks on black cost per page, a spot shared with the HP Color LaserJet Pro 3201dw — the two also share the same $18.94 per 100 pages color rate. The 3201dw sells for $400, but it is print-only, without the scan, copy and fax this MFP carries.
Further up HP's color laser line, the HP Color LaserJet Pro 4201dw and the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301fdw both print for $3.08 per 100 pages in black and $17.75 in color — noticeably cheaper to run than the 3301fdw. The plain 4201dw sells for $700; the full MFP 4301fdw, with its own touchscreen, fax, scan and copy, costs $860.
The running-cost floor among color laser printers InkTax tracks belongs to the Canon Color imageCLASS LBP674Cdw II, at $2.86 per 100 pages black and $17.26 color, for $681 — pricier up front than the 3301fdw but cheaper to run, and print-only.
The Brother HL-L3220CDW undercuts all of them on price, at $230, but costs more to run — $4.15 per 100 pages black, $20.26 color — and it lacks Ethernet and a touchscreen, plus the scan, copy and fax this HP includes.
Color costs far less outside laser altogether: the Canon PIXMA G3270 tank printer sells for $249 and runs $0.38 per 100 pages black, $0.97 color, but it tops out at 11 ppm, lacks auto-duplex, Ethernet and a touchscreen, and does not fax.
