The closest outside rival is the Canon Color imageCLASS MF753Cdw II, which matches the 4301fdw's scan, copy and fax functions and its 35 ppm speed, sells for $703, and runs cheaper too: $2.86 per 100 pages in black and $17.26 per 100 pages in color. Canon's print-only sibling in the same segment, the Color imageCLASS LBP674Cdw II, hits that same $2.86 per 100 pages black and $17.26 per 100 pages color floor for $681, without scan, copy or fax.
Within HP's own line, the Color LaserJet Pro 3201dw drops the price to $400 but raises running costs to $3.59 per 100 pages in black and $18.94 per 100 pages in color; its MFP sibling, the 3301fdw, adds scan, copy and fax back for $640 at that same higher rate. Among the 13 color laser printers InkTax tracks, the 4301fdw ties for 3rd on black cost per page, a rate one other model matches.
