The Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4830 is a color inkjet all-in-one — it prints, copies, scans and faxes — with a touchscreen and automatic duplexing, selling for $280. Running costs come to $4.36 per 100 pages in black and $14.45 per 100 pages in color.
That black rate traces to Epson's EP-822XL-BK cartridge, $48 for a 1,100-page yield. On black cost per page the WF-4830 ties for 7th of 31 inkjet printers InkTax tracks, a rate two other models match. Its color cost per page does a bit better, tying for 5th of the class, again shared with two others.
Within Epson's own WorkForce Pro line, the WF-7310 matches this printer's $280 price but only prints — no copy, scan or fax — and still runs cheaper, at $3.95 against $4.36 per 100 pages in black and $14.04 against $14.45 per 100 pages in color. The WF-7820 carries those same lower rates while restoring the full copy, scan and fax set and a touchscreen, for $330.
The Canon MAXIFY MB2720 holds the running-cost floor among inkjet printers InkTax tracks, at $4.17 per 100 pages in black and $13.16 per 100 pages in color, beating the WF-4830 on both — and it costs less upfront too, $216 against $280, with the same copy, scan, fax, duplex, Wi-Fi and touchscreen set.
For buyers who never print color, HP's LaserJet Pro 4006dw exits color altogether but cuts the toner cost to $2.23 per 100 pages, well under the WF-4830's $4.36, and prints far faster, 47 ppm against 25 ppm. It costs more upfront, $400, and trims functions to printing alone, losing copy, scan and fax.
