The 9125e ties for 1st of 31 inkjets InkTax tracks on black cost per page, a mark the HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e also lands on despite selling for $230. In color it slips to a tie for 8th of 31 inkjets on color cost per page — the 8135e runs pricier there, at $16.54 per 100 pages, above the 9125e's own color rate.
The Epson WorkForce Pro WF-3820 matches the 9125e's functions — print, copy, scan and fax, with duplex, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and a touchscreen — and costs $200, cheaper to buy than the HP. It runs $4.36 in black and $14.45 in color per 100 pages, pricier than the OfficeJet on black cost per page but cheaper on color cost per page.
The Canon MAXIFY MB2720 holds the color running-cost floor among the inkjet printers InkTax tracks, 31 in all, at $13.16 per 100 pages, and costs $216 with the same core functions as the 9125e. Its black rate, $4.17 per 100 pages, actually runs higher than the OfficeJet's, so the floor claim holds for color only, not black.
