Canon MAXIFY GX3020 Cost Per Page: Middling Among Ink Tank Printers
The Canon MAXIFY GX3020 is an ink tank printer that prints, copies and scans, with Wi-Fi and automatic duplex built in. It sells for $432 and runs $0.52 per 100 pages in black and $1.31 in color. The black rate traces to Canon's CN-GI26-BK ink bottle, priced at $31 for a 6,000-page yield.
The HP LaserJet Pro 4006dw, a mono laser, costs $400 and runs $2.23 per 100 pages — far above the GX3020's $0.52. It prints only in black, dropping copy and scanning, and adds a touchscreen and Ethernet the GX3020 doesn't have. It's also far faster, at 47 ppm against the GX3020's 18 ppm.
The GX3020 ties for 19th on black cost per page among the 30 ink tank printers InkTax tracks, a standing shared with two same-brand siblings. The MAXIFY GX4020 costs $540 and adds fax, a touchscreen and Ethernet; the MAXIFY GX7120 costs $864 with the same three additions and prints at 24 ppm.
Canon's own PIXMA G3270 is the ink tank running-cost floor: $0.38 for black, $0.97 for color, per 100 pages. It sells for $249, well below the GX3020's price, but lacks automatic duplex and its 11 ppm trails the GX3020's top speed by a wide margin.
